Saroj KC Knowledge Site

This website: an Astro and Vercel knowledge site with a Git-backed CMS, per-page SEO, and a published editorial and privacy framework.

What it is

This website: a static knowledge site for practical HR, compliance, ethical recruitment, and digital-work writing, with a private content dashboard at /admin/ that publishes through Git.

Why I built it

I wanted a place to publish practical work notes that I control completely — no platform that can change its rules, insert ads into my layout, or disappear. At the same time, writing articles should not require editing code, so I added a CMS that commits Markdown to the repository.

It also had to be honest about how the content is produced. That is why the site publishes an editorial policy, a detailed privacy policy, and terms of use alongside the articles.

Who it is for

  • HR, compliance, and recruitment professionals in Nepal looking for practical documentation and process guidance.
  • Small business owners and office managers who need working templates rather than theory.
  • Anyone searching for a specific process — a performance review format, an attendance register structure, a recruitment file checklist — who wants a clear answer from someone who does the work.

How it works

  • Pages are static HTML, generated at build time by Astro from Markdown content.
  • Content is managed in a Git-backed CMS at /admin/, with drafts, scheduled publishing, and image uploads.
  • Every page carries its own metadata: title, description, canonical URL, Open Graph and Twitter tags, and structured data (BlogPosting, Person, WebSite, BreadcrumbList).
  • Analytics is consent-based. Google Analytics loads only after a visitor accepts, and the site works fully without it.
  • The site is served from Vercel with security headers, a same-origin counter proxy, and permanent redirects for old URLs.
  • Sitemap, RSS, robots rules, and a useful 404 page are generated and maintained with the content.

What problem it solves

Professional knowledge in Nepal is often shared verbally, in training rooms, or in files that never leave one office. The result is that each organisation reinvents processes and repeats the same documentation mistakes. A written, searchable, dated version of that practical knowledge is easier to reuse — and easier to correct when something changes.

Technology used

Layer Choice
Site framework Astro (static output)
Content Markdown with a typed content schema
CMS Decap CMS with GitHub OAuth
Hosting Vercel, with security headers and redirects
Analytics Google Analytics 4, loaded only after consent
Counters (optional) CounterAPI through a same-origin proxy
Other RSS, XML sitemap, JSON-LD structured data

Current status and next steps

Live and maintained. Recent work has focused on editorial transparency (editorial policy, terms, expanded privacy policy), content depth in HR and compliance, and making every resource page a genuinely useful document rather than a download link.

A note on what this project is not

It is not a news site, and it is not a place for legal advice. Current-affairs articles appear occasionally and are sourced and dated; the site’s main work is practical professional guidance.
